Teledyne SSI’s new SC24 reciprocating pump delivers supercritical CO₂ for SFE and SFC

7/12/2024

Teledyne SSI's new SC24 reciprocating pump delivers liquid CO2 for use in supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC), and other applications.

SSI's SC24 pump provides reproducible pumping of liquid CO2. It is available with a maximum flow rate of 24 mL/min. and can reach pressures to 10,000 psi.

The SC24 is offered in either constant pressure or constant flow configurations. The pump's constant pressure mode features a selectable pressure setpoint. The flow rate auto-adjusts to maintain pressure—ideal for extraction applications. Constant flow configuration provides precise CO2 flow rates for supercritical fluid chromatography.

The easy-to-use SC24's unique construction simplifies pump installation and eliminates the need for external water baths or chillers and the associated tubing and maintenance. It does so by employing fully integrated Peltier thermoelectric cooling modules to maintain consistent CO2 temperatures during the pumping cycle.

Standard features include:

  • Stainless steel fluid path (other than the pump heads)
  • All-aluminum pump heads (for enhanced heat transfer)
  • In-line electronic pressure transducer
  • Simple front panel keypad controls with LED display
  • Motor stall detector
  • Inlet and Outlet filters

“Teledyne SSI's proven track record in providing industry-leading instruments to our OEM customers, particularly for high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), makes us the leading provider of a supercritical CO2 pump," said Jeff Field, Teledyne SSI director of business development for OEM pumps. “SSI's history of innovation, durable construction, accuracy and consistent operation in fluid pumping scenarios make the SC24 a strong choice for various applications."
